Understand the certified process scope
WTWT lists R2v3 certificate #C2025-05843 and RIOS certificate #C2025-05844. Request the current certificates and the scope relevant to your project before procurement. The service agreement should identify which activities are performed by WTWT and which are assigned to downstream providers.
Appendix A — Downstream Recycling Chain
Appendix A concerns management of downstream vendors for R2 Controlled Streams. Its application can include data-bearing devices and equipment needing further processing, as well as recycling material.
Appendix F — Brokering
Appendix F addresses brokering, where a supplier transfers equipment or material directly to a downstream vendor without it physically passing through the broker’s facility. It is not a general certification for testing, refurbishment or data destruction.
Confirm the processing requirements for your equipment
Ask which facilities will handle the equipment, what services they perform and which certificates cover those activities. Data sanitization and test-and-repair processes have separate R2v3 requirements; they should not be inferred from Appendix F.
Connect certification scope to your project
Discuss your ITAD program, electronics disposition and reporting requirements with the team. See SERI’s appendix guidance for the distinctions between process requirements.
